Anyone that is out and about in the Flower Mound area knows that the North Texas sun can take a beating on your hair. Mix in air pollutants and other residue, it is no wonder a hot shower before bed is often one of the most rewarding times of the day. Since it is so important to replenish the vitality and nourishment in our hair, you may be curious if your shampoo and conditioning treatment is working the best for you. In fact, we know this is an important topic as one of the most common questions asked by our clients is:

“Should I use a deep conditioner or a daily conditioner?”

In short, the answer isn’t about one or the other. It’s about understanding the differences and knowing how the right combination leads to the best possible look and feel for your hair. Some of the main differences between deep conditioning treatment and daily conditioning are the ingredients in either product, the amount of time each treatment takes, and the effectiveness each provides.

Ingredients in Deep Conditioners

Deep conditioners consist of ingredients that can penetrate the shaft of the hair and nourish your cuticle on a deeper level. Quality products will include ingredients such as Aloe Vera Juice, Coconut Oil, Olive Oil, or Avocado Oil. Regular conditioner contains ingredients that can absorb the materials on the surface of your hair, but won’t go any further than that. In either situation, we always recommend looking for products that contain natural, healthy ingredients over harmful chemicals that can “dry out” or even damage your scalp.

Now here’s where things get a little more technical. The Keratin protein structures in your hair are held together by two types of bonds: disulfide bonds and hydrogen bonds.

Adding color to your hair is one of the best ways to refresh your look and make a statement–but many of the terms thrown around in the hair color world can be so confusing.

Two of the most well known are ombre and balayage, and they’re also the most mixed up! So what are these techniques anyway, and which one is best for what look you’re going for?

It’s a familiar sight for anyone driving through a small American town. We see it all the time in movies, TV shows and in artwork. But for something that is as Americana as Apple Pie, we know very little about the origins of the Barbershop pole.

Well, the history of this red and white (and sometimes blue) striped pole is far more intriguing than you may have imagined!
